Moate will have St Patrick’s Day Parade this year

Moate Partnership has announced that there will be a St Patrick’s Day Parade in the town again this year.

The St Patrick’s Day Parade has been a constant feature in Moate since 1984. However, in the past couple of years, a lack of volunteer help has put the parade in doubt. The Partnership Group called an emergency meeting in January, 2018, to which a small group of people turned up. This group decided the parade would again take place.

The Partnership, together with Moate Action Group/Moate Community Office, is working hard to make the parade happen.

The parade’s normal start time has been altered due to the final game of the Six Nations taking place on the same day. The game starts at 2.45pm. With a strong chance that Ireland will be aiming for Grand Slam glory, and the final game also being against England, the parade will start at 5pm so that people can enjoy both on the day.
