Critic and curator Catherine Marshall at Luan Gallery

Luan Gallery is delighted to introduce art critic and curator Catherine Marshall in the first installment of the 'Lunchtime Curator Response' series, which will take place in Luan Gallery on Tuesday, March 6.

Join Catherine Marshall and artists Bernadette Kiely and Marie Hanlon for a lunchtime response to the exhibitions 'So Much Water [so] Close To Home' and 'Water Table', currently on display at the gallery.

Marshall is an art historian, curator and critical writer who is published widely on Irish art. She was adviser to the Arts Council's Touring Experiment and she was appointed as first head of collections at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 1995. She has curated exhibitions of Irish art in Ireland, the United States, Canada and China.

Luan Gallery curator, Katriona Gillespie said: "This is an ideal opportunity for those interested in the work of Bernadette Kiely and Marie Hanlon to join renowned curator Catherine Marshall in a relaxed, entertaining and informative discussion. This Lunchtime Curator’s Response session will take place in a relaxed setting here at Luan Gallery and is designed to create greater access and understanding between art and audience. It’s an opportunity not to be missed."

The combination of these two artists’ contrasting works addressing the nature of water as both a resource and a threat to human sustenance will provide substantial material for an engaged and informative discussion in the first session of this series.

The event takes place on Tuesday, March 6, at 2pm. Booking is not required but places are limited.

The event is open to the public, free of charge, with tea and coffee served on the day.
