The new Peugeot 508 promises a radical new exterior design, exemplary road-handling, new engines, countless technology features and a quantum leap in quality. It will be unveiled at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show this March and goes on sale worldwide from September 2018.
At a glance, the 508’s front end is impressive. A chequered grille sits between full LED headlights, and the 508 logo on the bonnet pays tribute to Peugeot’s vintage 504 models.
Low and sleek, the svelte coupé silhouette is further sharpened thanks to frameless doors, which are fitted flush with the body.
Inside, Peugeot’s i-Cockpit includes a compact steering wheel, a 10-inch touchscreen, and a customisable heads-up display unit with six different display modes.
Seven toggle switches give direct access to the main comfort features as well as the i-Cockpit® Amplify system, which can control the car’s driving performance. A driving mode selector offers eco, sport, comfort and normal modes, as well as damping in the vehicles equipped with electronic suspension.
The new Peugeot 508 offers a wide range of latest-generation driving aids. Features depend on the trim level, and include night vision, collision-risk alert, automatic emergency braking, active lane departure warning system, driver-attention warning, automatic headlight control, speed limit recognition and recommendation, widened recognition of road signs (stop sign, one-way sign ), adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and active blind-spot monitoring.
Two petrol options are on offer: a 1.6 litre PureTech 180 automatic and a PureTech 225 (GT version only ) automatic.
Four diesel options are available: a 1.5 litre BlueHDi 130 in automatic or manual configurations, a 2.0 litre BlueHDi 160 automatic and a 2.0 litre BlueHDi 180 automatic.
With the exception of the1.5 litre BlueHDi 130 6-speed manual, all of the units will be mated to the new Peugeot eight-speed EAT8 automatic gearbox. A plug-in hybrid petrol drivetrain will be sold on the new model from autumn 2019.
