Are you Westmeath’s Fittest Company 2018?

For the fifth year running, Maurice Looby fitness is back with Westmeath’s Fittest Company 2018.

Companies are challenged to get their staff fit while raising money for Larcc Cancer Support Sanctuary in Multyfarnham. To date, €63,640 has been raised for local charities.

Last year saw a closely fought battle between the teams who secured a place in the final heats; Westmeath County Council, Mergon International, Conroy Pallets, Ericsson, Westmeath Examiner, Dunnes Stores, and O’Briens Centra. Conroy Pallets who were one of the favourites to win on the day unfortunately had to bow out of the final.

The Westmeath County Council team of Murty Hanly, Mark Mc Cann, Michael Murphy and Bernard Groenewald powered through to the finishing line and took the title of Westmeath’s Fittest Company for 2017.

The ladies final was nailbiting to watch. Lined up at the start were teams from Westmeath County Council, Mr Crumb, Trend Technologies, Mergon International, Apache Pizza and Russell Brennan Keane.

It proved to be Westmeath County Council’s day, as they took both all-male and all-female titles. The ladies team was made up of Olive Manning, Lousie Elliot, Kyla Nash and Michelle Murphy.

This year the format is a four-person team consisting of any mix of both male and female employees. Teams will take part in a 10 week training programme, designed by Maurice Looby Fitness, encouraging participants to train twice weekly.

Maurice Looby Fitness has partnered up with the Oylmpic Boxing Club in Mullingar and CrossFit in Athlone to get the teams in shape for this year’s final.

At the end of the training programme, teams will compete in a team obstacle course challenge for the title of Westmeath’s Fittest Company 2018. Each team member is encouraged to attend all training sessions prior to the event day. The final event day will take place in Lilliput Adventure Centre on Saturday, April 21.

Team registration closes on January 31. For further information on this event contact Maurice on (087 ) 2308001 or visit www.mauriceloobyfitness.ie
