David Pleasance, the former boss of tech company Commodore, is coming to Athlone for the Commodore and Amiga Annual Retro Summit at the Prince of Wales Hotel on January 19 and 20.
Commodore International was one of the world’s largest personal computer manufacturers in the 1980s. The company was responsible for deceloping and marketing the world’s best selling desktop computer, the Commodore 64.
At the event, Pleasance will talk about his new book and a new innovative technology product which is due to be released for free to the public this year. Other attractions include retro computer displays, gaming competitions, Sensible Soccer, programming workshops, interviews, podcast recordings and spot prizes.
Also taking place is the Commodore Creative Competitions which has submissions from around the globe including new software creations and musical compositions for Commodore and Amiga computers. Non technical submissions include edibles and wearables.
Tickets cost €35 for both days or €20 for just the Saturday. The event is hosted in partnership with the Computer and Communications Museum of Ireland, who will also be present.
