Art competition prize giving ceremony at the Luan Gallery

A prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the Athlone Advertiser Christmas art competition will take place in Luan Gallery on Friday, January 19, from 4pm.

The winning pictures have been on display at Luan Gallery since just before Christmas. Winning entrants and their parents and guardians are invited to the gallery on January 19, where the winning works will be recognised and discussed. There will be a photographer on hand to take pictures of all of the prize winners, which will be then published in the Athlone Advertiser the following Thursday.

The theme for this year’s art competition, ‘What Christmas morning means to you’, captured the imagination of our local young artists. The standard of entries once again this year really impressed us, with heart-warming images of everything from winter wonderlands to cosy log fires.

Many submissions featured beautiful scenes from nature, with snowy gardens and robins perched atop fences, while others focused on the excitement of gathering around the Christmas tree, opening stockings and unwrapping presents.

Our thanks to everyone who entered - we spend a great deal of time every year poring over all the entries, and even longer to decide the winners. It is never easy!

Thank you to all the children, parents, guardians, and teachers who ensured we had such a fantastic selection of entries, and a huge thanks to everyone at the Luan Gallery for their support.
