Athlone and District Housing Association has donated €10,000 to the Midlands Simon Community’s essential services in Athlone.
The association made the decision to donate the money after being moved by a recent visit to the Simon Community`s Athlone based emergency accommodation service.
Speaking on behalf of Athlone and District Housing Association, Chairman Cieran Temple stated: “We in Athlone and District Housing Association know and appreciate the excellent work being done by the staff and volunteers of the Midlands Simon Community. We want to ensure that they can continue to support those on the margins of society and we were moved to donate this money.”
The Midlands Simon Community is the only provider of emergency accommodation for single men in County Westmeath.
Speaking on the receipt of the donation, Mark Cooney - volunteer and Chairman of Midlands Simon Community - said: “The donation from Athlone and District Housing Association will go to fund our local emergency service in Athlone, and I am deeply appreciative of all in Athlone and District Housing Association.”
