Coláiste Chiaráin students present timeless classic ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

Coláiste Chiaráin transition year students are gearing up to present the timeless classic, Fiddler on the Roof.

Students, parents and members of the wider community are invited to this fantastic presentation, with three evening performances scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thusday - December 5 to 7 - in the school hall from 8pm.

The TY students have been rehearsing tirelessly during the last number of weeks under the experienced instruction of their producer, Ms Majella Flanagan, and musical director, Ms Irene Halligan.

Fiddler on the Roof is a timeless classic based on the book by Joseph Stein. Set in Imperial Russia in 1905, the story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives. He must cope both with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love. Each one's choice of a husband moves further away from the customs of his faith, and then comes the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

The staging of Fiddler on the Roof represents the next chapter in proud tradition of musical productions for Coláiste Chiaráin.

Admission costs €10 per adult and €8 for students/OAPs. Bookings can be made by contacting the school office on (090 ) 6492383.
