The Midlands Science Festival is back

The Midlands Science Festival will be taking place across the region for people of all ages from November 12 to 19 and promises a packed programme which will take science out of the lab and into the outdoors, libraries, theatres and primary school halls.

Midlands Science Festival director, Jackie Gorman, said: "We are delighted to be heading into our fifth year with the festival. There is a large number of school events taking place in Westmeath schools during Science Week such as high value science career talks, the return of the Exploration Dome, rocket making workshops, the Reptile Zoo and many more.

"There is also plenty planned for public audiences, including ‘The Science of Dogs, From Wolf to Woof’, which takes place on the evening of November 13 at 8pm in Athlone Institute of Technology. Join us for a fascinating evening with a veterinary scientist and an evolutionary biologist as they explore the world of canines."

"Another unique event for 2017 is the ‘Science of Relationships’, which will also be held in AIT but on the evening of November 16. The latter will be delivered by neuroscientist and author Giovanni Frazzetto. We look forward to hearing from Giovanni all about the neuroscience behind the way people relate to each other and this event promises to be one which will hopefully appeal to many different people."
