Splash into the autumn with Water Babies swim programme

The Water Babies programme is designed to make the most of babies’ natural affinity with water. It teaches confidence and safety, using specialist techniques that see many swimming short distances from as young as 30 months.

Water Babies autumn term of classes start at the end of August. The term runs for 10 weeks with weekday classes held in Carlton Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe.

Water Babies is run by Jamie and Lisa Cobbe and currently teaches more than 850 babies and toddlers per week in Galway, Mayo, Limerick, and Sligo.

Baby swimming is an entirely safe and gentle activity which helps parents bond with their baby while giving them water confidence and safety skills. Swimming from birth stimulates brain and muscle development in babies in a safe, relaxed way. Babies absolutely love the fun and freedom of being in water, and parents sharing this experience with their little ones is a most exciting and rewarding experience. Using word association, movement, games and songs, Jamie and Lisa create sessions that are informative and heaps of fun.

The Water Babies swimming programme is different to traditional swimming lessons. Water Babies only uses warm water pools (30° or above ) so babies can join classes from birth and immunisations are not required in order to start classes. While the emphasis is on having fun, the course is carefully structured. Each of the lesson plans is worked out to progress learning and understanding.

The main aim is to enable each child to be incredibly confident and happy in the water right from the word go, in an environment that is safe and enjoyable for both parent and child.
