Peugeot worldwide sales increase by 15pc in first half of 2017

With 1,025,000 units sold by the end of June and a 15 per cent increase in worldwide sales, Peugeot’s strong performance is on track to meet a target figure of two million vehicle sales in 2017.

The solid sales performance is driven by the demand across the entire Peugeot passenger car and light commercial vehicle range. The new Peugeot 3008 SUV, which has received 28 international awards, including the prestigious 2017 Car of The Year award, has beaten all company records in terms of the international order book, with 205,000 orders since its launch in late 2016 and 114,900 sales in the first half of 2017.

This success has been mirrored in the sales performance of the other SUVs in the range. For the first half of 2017, the Peugeot 2008 SUV, Irish Small SUV of the Year 2017, was number two in its market segment.

The first units of the much-anticipated new Peugeot 5008 SUV are due in Ireland in the coming weeks. Since its international press launch at the beginning of 2017, the new Peugeot 5008 SUV has already recorded 21,400 orders.

Peugeot light commercial van sales have risen by 12 per cent, boosted by the new, high-performance Peugeot Expert - Irish Van of the Year 2017 - plus the best-selling Peugeot Partner and load-lugging Boxer.

Notably, sales outside Europe rose by 46 per cent, accounting for 41 per cent of group sales worldwide. This growth is in line with the lion-brand’s 2017 objective of achieving 45 per cent of sales outside Europe, and underlines a commitment to reaching 50 per cent of total sales outside Europe by 2020.

The Peugeot sales offensive will continue in the second half of 2017 with the launch of the new Peugeot mid-size 308 hatchback and SW estate in September.
