Athlone Castle Visitor Centre will offer a daily guided tour every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday commencing at 2.30pm.
This guided tour service is being piloted every weekend at a daily time of 2.30pm for the months of July and August.
Visitors will be guided through Athlone’s earliest history through to modern times. They will get an opportunity to be totally immersed in the most turbulent time in the town’s history and experience the intensity and bloodiness of the 1691 siege in a dramatic 360° cinematic experience, as well as playing a number of games, dressing up in medieval costume, and engaging with replica weapons from the time.
The tour will last for approximately one hour and normal admission rates will apply. No additional fee will apply during this pilot phase.
The tour is subject to availability and places are limited and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
