It is that time of year again, with The Galway Races on the horizon.
Colm Quinn BMW Athlone and Galway is the title sponsor of the festival’s Tuesday card for the second year running, which takes place on August 1.
This partnership deal, which runs for three years, has prize money valued at nearly €500,000 in total. It extends to three valuable races across a top-class Tuesday card, culminating in the day’s feature race, The Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap.
The feature race takes place at 6.50pm and is one of the country’s richest flat handicaps, worth a whopping €120,000. As always, with such a big pot at stake, it will undoubtedly be hotly contested, attracting multiple entries from the country’s top trainers.
Colm Quinn is delighted to be also participating in the first ever Zorbing Derby in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund. Chairman Ruby Walsh rolled into town earlier in the week to help launch the first ever ‘Paddy Power Zorbing Derby’, which will take place at this year’s Galway Races Festival. It will take place before all the racing action beings on Tuesday, August 1, and will feature Paddy Power, Sky Sports hurling analyst and four-time All-Star, Ollie Canning, former Irish international footballer, Stephen Hunt, and Colm Quinn.
To celebrate its sponsoring of the event, Colm Quinn is selling tickets for BMW Tuesday at the Galway Races at half price. Entry tickets, normally priced at €25 for the Tuesday card, are available at €12.50 from Colm Quinn’s Galway and Athlone retail centres.
