Ireland West Airport welcomes the recent announcement by Bus Eireann of the introduction of a new and enhanced route 440 bus timetable connecting Athlone and towns and villages in Roscommon with Ireland West Airport.
The new timetable, which came into effect on Sunday 25th June 2017, will see enhanced and additional daily bus services available between Athlone, Roscommon and communities along the corridor with the airport.
Four daily return services from Athlone will now operate to and from the airport originating at Athlone Bus Station with departures as follows:
· 06:45 departure from Athlone Bus Station arriving at Ireland West Airport Knock at 08:52
· 11:45 departure from Athlone Bus Station arriving at Ireland West Airport Knock at 13:52
· 14:45 departure from Athlone Bus Station arriving at Ireland West Airport Knock at 16:52
· 17:45 departure from Athlone Bus Station arriving at Ireland West Airport Knock at 19:52
In addition there will be up to six daily departures from Ireland West Airport to Athlone connecting towns and villages in Roscommon and Westmeath en-route.
These new services will be a welcome boost and will provide enhanced access between towns in the wider catchment and Ireland West Airport. The Roscommon and Midlands regions are very important markets for the airport with almost 20% of the airport’s current passenger base coming from the Roscommon and Midlands regions annually with a further 20% of our overseas visitors travelling to these regions when they fly in through the airport.
