Coosan Point setting for Irish National Aquathlon Championship

The Midland Aquathon Series came to its conclusion yesterday evening, Wednesday, July 5 with an event hosted by Athlone Triathlon Club from Coosan Point.

Saturday, July 22 will see some of Ireland’s top athletes back at Coosan Point for the Irish National Aquathlon Championship. This places the club on the national stage, with a mix of both adults’ and children’s events planned for the day.

The country’s best swim-runners will line out for the prestigious event, which will crown a national champion for 2017 in the men’s and women’s races.

National Aquathlon age group medals will also be contested across each male and female adult category.

The fun continues on September 9 when the club hosts its annual triathlon at Coosan Point. This is a sprint distance race consisting of a 750m swim, 20k cycle, and 5k run.

The event was a great success last year and continues to grow, thanks to the club members and sponsors including Alkermes, Planet X, Duggan transport, Athlone Auto centre, Multi Skill Health and Safety Ltd Athlone, and An Post centre Athlone.

Athlone Triathlon Club would also like to thank the residents of Coosan, and Athlone for their continued support and safety awareness during these events.
