The new Peugeot 3008 SUV has been named the winner of the much fought-over ‘Mid-Size SUV’ category in the UK’s Auto Express Awards, beating all of its competitors, including models such as the Seat Ateca and Mazda CX-5.
It is the latest high-profile victory for the all-new Peugeot 3008 SUV, which has already been voted European Car of the Year 2017 and has more than 10,000 sold in the UK since January.
Judges had lots to praise about the new 3008 SUV, but singled out its premium design both inside and out, ‘upmarket feel’, and features such as the state of the art Peugeot i-Cockpit interior layout. The layout offers a more intuitive and engaging driving experience, with a compact multi-function steering wheel, 12.3 inch head-up digital instrument display, and 8” capacitive touchscreen with mirror screen functionality comprising Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and mirror link.
Plaudits were also given to the Peugeot 3008’s range of efficient engines, such as the 1.2L PureTech 130 ‘Stop&Start’. With its combination of CO2 emissions of 117g/km, claimed fuel economy of 55.4mpg combined, and strong performance, Auto Express described it as “one of the best engines around”.
It was a case of double SUV honours, with a commendation for the Peugeot 2008 in the ‘Small SUV’ class too. Judges loved its mix of premium design, low running costs and an efficient engine range. Peugeot’s innovation was also applauded, with technology such as grip control - an adapted traction control system – highly praised.
Auto Express loved the fact that grip control gives the 2008 SUV the ability to “handle off-roading without needing a heavy 4x4 system”. Auto Express also praised its high equipment levels. The 2008 is also the current Irish Small SUV of the Year.
The Peugeot Expert also scooped a commendation in the ‘Van of the Year’ category.
