Minister of State for the Office of Public Works, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, has welcomed the commencement of the entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation summer camps for second level students, one of which will be held in Athlone.
Summer camps will be run in 20 higher education establishments over the summer months, including at Athlone Institute of Technology under the name ‘Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation’.
The summer camps, which help students get hands-on experience of developing innovative ideas to solve problems and creating new products and services, will build on the expertise in each institution.
Minister Moran said it is critically important that as the economy recovers, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation are nurtured by the education and training system.
“This is the first time that these types of summer camps have been run to enable second-level students to engage in activities that stimulate entrepreneurial thinking and design skills,” Minister Moran said.
“I am particularly pleased that Athlone Institute of Technology is among the institutions providing these activities for students so that they get to experience life on a higher education campus.”
