Here and Now Tour at the Royal Theatre Castlebar

Castlebar goes back in time on Sunday April 12, with the Here and Now Tour on the road again.

Original 80s acts Kim Wilde, ABC, Heaven 17, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Altered Images, and Toyah come to Castlebar on Sunday April 12 to transport you into the 80s with their hit tunes such as ‘Kids in America’ and ‘I Want to Be free’.

The line up for the Here and Now Tour April 2009 is one not to miss

Kim Wilde burst onto the music scene in 1981 with the new wave classic Kids in America. The blond singer with the siren voice is after all one of pop music’s most dazzling stars. She topped the charts with her version of The Supremes' hit ‘You Keep Me Hangin On’. She has toured with Michael Jackson (1988 ) and David Bowie (1990 )

ABC had three top 10 hits during 1982: the singles Poison Arrow, The Look of Love (Part One ) and All of My Heart and shot high-concept music videos that captured a suave Great Gatsby-meets-James Bond aesthetic. With the release of their album Look of Love; The Very Best of ABC the group celebrate with some gorgeous new songs and a series of dates with Robbie Williams.

Heaven 17 fused funk and pop through a series of vital 80s albums and singles gaining several chart successes and cult status along the way.

Kid Creole and the Coconuts, led by August Darnell, incorporate a variety of styles, in particular American and Latin American, South American, Caribbean, Trinidadian, Calloway, and conceptually inspired by the big band era. The Coconuts are a glamorous trio of female backing vocalists whose lineup has changed throughout the years. A group who quickly moved from indie-style to unpretentious, chart-conquering pop of a consistently high quality.

Altered Images Clare Grogan had a dream and continues to live it today. When Altered Images was formed it was only a short while later they were signed to Epic Records and the next five years were spent touring the world promoting their seven top 10 singles, and three top 10 albums.
