Athlone Town FC has confirmed that former Irish under 18 and under 21 goalkeeper Alex O'Reilly has agreed terms with the club.
O'Reilly, who was born in London, most recently featured on Sky One's Dream Team - where he played the part of Harchester United goalkeeper Alex O'Mare.
O'Reilly had been on the books of West Ham United, Northampton, and Bristol Rovers before dropping into non-league football in England.
O'Reilly was part of Brian Kerr's 1998 u18 European champions in Cyprus, saving a spot kick during the shoot-out against Germany in the final.
Manager Brendan Place said he had been closely monitoring O'Reilly's performances during a trial period.
"From what I have seen of him in training and in a pre-season friendly with Shamrock Rovers, I think he will do a good job for us," he said.
O'Reilly's father is a native of the area, hailing from nearby Ballymahon.
The club is currently seeking international clearance for O'Reilly and is hoping to have him available for selection for the season-opener away to Mervue Utd on Friday night.
