Moate student a winner at National Career Skills Awards

Moate Business School student, Linda Haran, has won third prize at the National Career Skills Awards.

Ms Haran was awarded the accolade for her study in QQI Level 5 Business & Administration Skills in the Adult Learning category.

The National Career Skill Awards, run by www.careersportal.ie and sponsored by McDonald’s Ireland, recognise students who complete career investigations into their chosen area of interest following their work experience placement. The competition seeks to promote an awareness around the importance of career skills and how they can help students to prepare for the world of work.

Each student must demonstrate their understanding of a chosen career, the educational pathways that lead to it, the most relevant knowledge requirements, and the most important transferable skills needed to be successful.

Presentations were made at a ceremony at the Department of Education on May 10 by Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, and Alison Hodgson, HR director at McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland.
