Enjoy manageable and smooth hair with the 12 week blowdry

It is true that us ladies are never happy with our hair.

If we have straight, lifeless hair we want bouncy curls; if we have frizzy curls we want the sleek look. Well, I am in the latter group - I want perfect, straight hair. As a result, I get up every morning to tackle my generally uncontrollable waves!

I was kindly invited recently by Alicia, head stylist at Mary Duffy’s award-winning hair salon on Sean Costello Street, Athlone, to pop in and try the 12 week blowdry. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity.

The 12 week blowdry is part of the Unamy Seta range of products and involves three steps to the new you.

I was warmly greeted at the door by the lovely Alicia, who explained the treatment to me before starting. She got underway by shampooing my hair three times with a Kemon sulphate-free cleansing shampoo to ensure there was no residue on my hair. This was a fabulous experience and the product smells amazing.

Alicia then applied the taming treatment and left it on for 25 minutes, before rinsing my hair for a good 10 minutes and applying the Unamy Seta hydrating hair mask. This was then left to work its magic for a further 10 minutes.

Alicia then dried my hair by hand, and at this point I could already see the ease with which my hair straightened out and that the frizz was non-existent. I was very impressed with the shine and the fact that the treatment does not affect coloured hair. Alicia then straightened my hair with a ghd and we were done.

The treatment took just under two and a half hours and the results are as amazing as the price. The cost for the treatment is €85, which is a real bargain for the results you get.

There are, of course, aftercare instructions which must be followed to get longevity from the treatment. You are required not to wet your hair, go swimming, or use a sauna for 24 hours after, as these can undo the taming treatment.

I purchased the aftercare treatments which were yet another bargain at €30 and include the Kemon Unamy Seta shampoo, leave-in conditioner, and the hydrating hair mask. The mask should be used once a week and the leave-in conditioner after each wash. The products are sulphate free which allows the treatment to last for 12 weeks.

I would highly recommend this treatment. I have never seen my hair as sleek, smooth, or shiny as it was when I left the salon.
