‘Belonging’ is the latest solo exhibition by local artist Dee McKiernan.
Having lived most of her life beside Lough Ree – initially in Coosan and now in Kiltoom - Dee’s creativity has always been influenced by the beauty of her surroundings. The local landscape, history, and people provide constant inspiration for the creation of both representational and abstract works of art.
This latest exhibition brings together a collection of these locally inspired works. It will surely be of interest both to visitors and those living in Athlone and its environs.
Dee is a self-taught artist who works in acrylics, watercolours, oils, pastels, pencils, collage, and mixed media. Her work has previously been displayed in group exhibitions in counties Westmeath and Roscommon. Her first solo exhibition, ‘From Doorstep to Dreams’, took place in Athlone in 2015 and a further solo exhibition is planned for Aras an Chontae, Mullingar in November.
Dee’s ‘Belonging’ exhibition takes place on the first floor of Vincent’s Charity Shop, 10 Church Street, Athlone. It will run from Tuesday, May 2, until Saturday, June 3.
There will be an official launch at 12.30pm on Saturday, May 6. This is a free event and all are welcome.
