Two major gigs announced for this summer’s Galway International Arts Festival

Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh have announced two great end-of-festival gigs to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

In what promises to be a great end-of-festival party weekend, 2FM DJ Jenny Greene and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will tear the roof off the Absolut Big Top with their 'Dance Anthems' set on Friday, July 28. Added to this, festival favourites The Coronas will rock the Absolut Big Top music programme to a close on Saturday, July 29. This year’s festival will run from July 17 to 30.

The collaboration between Jenny Greene and the 48-piece RTÉ Concert Orchestra debuted at Electric Picnic to rave reviews in 2016, where the show featured live performances of 90s club classic hits such as "Silence", "Adagio for Strings", "Everybody’s Free", "Insomnia" and "Missing". This will be one of the hottest festival music tickets this year.

One of Ireland’s biggest selling rock acts, The Coronas, have several platinum-selling albums to their name, including the exquisite Closer to You and The Long Way. The band have achieved widespread international acclaim, touring across the world over the last number of years, while still managing to remain one of Ireland's most popular live acts.

The end of festival summer parties will also include some special support acts to be announced, spectacular lighting, production and special effects, pop-up appearance by French street theatre company, Close-Act, food concessions including gourmet street food, and much more.

Festival CEO John Crumlish said: “Jenny Greene and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and The Coronas are two great acts and will provide for a great finish to what is our biggest festival to date”.
