Athlone Castle will host a free family day on Easter Monday, April 17, from 12.30pm to 4pm to celebrate Cruinniú na Cásca - a new national day of culture and creativity.
A fact-finding treasure hunt has been organised for children to complete with a special prize for all entries. The Easter Bunny will be onsite throughout the afternoon to pose for selfies, while Alice in Wonderland is looking forward to painting children’s faces.
Guided tours of the castle walls and battlements are scheduled for 1pm and 3pm and the giant outdoor chess set will be waiting for its champion.
It promises to be a fun afternoon for everyone with lots of hands-on activities and dress-up. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission to Athlone Castle Visitor Centre will be free on the day.
