Harmony Health, a Citywest-based business, is to hold a non-invasive heart check service in Athlone Springs Hotel on Friday April 21, from 11am to 8.30pm. Using an innovative machine standard in some UK hospitals, they can detect a number of heart concerns, potentially reducing visits to A&E through early detection.
The test, which costs €50, is done through the use of a medically approved machine which is affixed to the patient’s wrist and can check the condition of the heart, arteries, overall circulation, and blood pressure.
“If this test became standard for people, hospital emergency departments would be half empty,” said a representative for Harmony Health.
“This is a very important test and is beneficial to people of all ages and fitness levels. We see a lot of athletes, and it can very simply detect any issues with your cardiovascular system – from your head to your toes.
“If everybody had this test it would significantly impact on the health service. In the UK, some of the hospitals have this machine but in Ireland you have to pay around €500 or €600 to get it done privately.
“The test takes the worry and the wait away from people and those who get the test done leave feeling satisfied that everything is OK, or in the knowledge that they must take additional steps to ensure the health of their heart.”
Testing will be available in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland on Friday, April 21 from 11am to 8.30pm.
