Minister Sargent gets dirty planting trees

Due to the phenomenal success of their Free Tree promotion last year, Folláin is once again offering their customers the chance to improve environmental sustainability in Ireland.  Folláin, gold winner in Preserve with Blas na hÉireann and Munster winners for Family-Run Business with Ulster Bank, have teamed up with Crann, Ireland’s leading voluntary tree organisation for the second year running to offer this environmentally conscious Free Tree promotion.

The beautiful Dalgan Park, Co Meath was the setting for the official launch of this year’s Free Tree promotion where special guests Minister of State Trevor Sargent, Éanna Ní Lamhna,and Dale Treadwell spoke of their support for this wonderful initiative.  

“Not only is forestry an important contributor to the economy and rural development through employment, both direct and indirect, it also plays an important positive environmental role vis-à-vis water, climate change, and renewable energy,” said Minister Sargent. “This initiative by Folláin and Crann creates awareness of this role and encourages participation at consumer and household level. The trees, availed of under the promotion, will visually enhance their immediate surroundings into the future and will also simultaneously enhance the environment.”

In recognition of their responsibility to the environment Folláin strive to achieve environmental best practice throughout their business activity. Folláin’s managing director Peadar O’Lionáird says, “We believe that everyone has a duty of care for our environment and to seek new ways to conserve our natural resources. Last year Folláin and Crann gave away almost 3000 trees and this year we hope to do even more to help our environment and the people of Ireland.”
