Sixty apply for tourist officer role

Some 62 people have applied for the position of tourist officer advertised by Westmeath County Council before Christmas.

The council is now working towards reducing this figure to a shortlist of around 20 applicants.

Two days of interviews will then be organised for some time in March, and it is planned to have somebody employed in the position by the start of April.

The position of heritage officer advertised last year attracted 115 applicants. A shortlist has been compiled, and interviews will take place in the coming weeks.
