Ask the Artist with Mark Garry at Luan Gallery

Luan Gallery's popular 'Ask the Artist' series resumes with Mark Garry on March 11 from 3pm.

Garry is currently showing a combination of new and previously seen works at Luan Gallery in an exhibition entitled An Afterwards.

During Ask the Artist, Garry will discuss art, nature, nostalgia, and everything in between in a conversation facilitated by fellow Mullingar artist, Celine Sheridan. Engagement from the audience is welcome and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and join in the discussion.

Aedin McGinn, gallery curator, says: "These events are designed in an effort to demystify the artist and their practice, creating greater access and understanding between art and audience. Ask the Artist events are set in a casual environment in the gallery where artist and audience come together and chat over a cup of tea. Listening to Mark Garry talk about his work is a real treat, and this session promises to be a relaxed, entertaining, enjoyable, and informative discussion, and is one not to be missed."

Garry’s practice stems from and is informed by a number of diverse fields of research. His art is multifaceted and incorporates a variety of media and mechanisms including drawing, film making, photography, sculpture, performance, and collaborative music projects. An Afterwards combines a number of these elements. The exhibition remains in Luan Gallery until April 22.

Ask the Artist is suitable for second and third level students, art teachers, artists, art enthusiasts, and anyone with an interest in learning more about the work of Mark Garry.

Ask the Artist takes place on Saturday, March 11, at 3pm. No booking is required but places are limited. The talk is open to the public and is free of charge. All are welcome.
