Athlone woman wins the Irish Wheelchair Association’s big draw

The winner of Irish Wheelchair Association’s (IWA ) car draw, Kitty McKiernan, from Athlone collected her brand new Ford Fiesta from Kilmartin’s Garage, Ballinasloe, earlier this month.

IWA’s annual car draw is one of the organisation’s main fundraising campaigns and all funds raised from the sale of tickets and online entries are immediately invested into the range of services and supports IWA provides to people with physical disabilities in their own homes and communities.

Ford Ireland generously supports IWA’s Ford Fiesta car draw on an annual basis and Kilmartin’s Garage were delighted to have the opportunity to assist Mrs McKiernan with the delivery of her brand new 2017 Ford Fiesta model.

Over the course of the year, IWA volunteers and supporters sell tickets nationwide for just €2 each. Mrs McKiernan purchased a ticket from IWA at the Ploughing Championships in Tullamore in September 2016 and was delighted to learn that her ticket was selected as the winning stub for the 2016 campaign.

As she collected the keys to her brand new Ford Fiesta, Mrs McKiernan explained: “I was over the moon when I received the call from IWA’s fundraising department to inform me I had won a brand new car. My husband and I were in the process of purchasing a new car, so it was a lovely surprise and a great start to 2017. My first ever car was a Ford Fiesta also purchased from Kilmartin’s so I am delighted to drive away in the latest model. I am so pleased that my lucky win was the result of supporting a local charity, as IWA has a busy resource and outreach centre based here in Athlone.”
