The severe flooding which occurred in Athlone and surrounding areas last winter has inspired a new collection of paintings by a local artist.
Rosemarie Langtry’s latest exhibition is entitled Submerged, and runs in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone from this Friday, February 3 to Sunday, March 12.
With a mixture of paint, mixed media, and encaustic wax, Rosemarie wished to record our vulnerability at the hands of nature, and the various issues caused by the flooding of winter 2015/16 in the Athlone area.
A native of Offaly, Rosemarie lives in Ballinahown where she works from her studio.
The Submerged exhibition is supported by Westmeath County Council, and the official opening will be carried out by Mayor of Athlone John Dolan this Friday, February 3 at 6pm. All are welcome to attend.
