Quebra Pedra literally means “break stones” in Portuguese and is also known by its Spanish name, Chanca Piedra.
It is a herb native to the Amazon rainforest in South America and is found also in coastal tropical areas of the world. It is an important Ayurvedic plant used in Indian medicine for problems of the stomach, genitourinary system, liver, kidneys, and spleen. Quebra Pedra has long been used to prevent kidney stone formation and to dissolve calcium oxalate crystals in the urinary tract.
Quebra Pedra is a botanical herb extracted from the trees of the Amazon rainforests where the locals have been successfully using it to dissolve kidney and gallstones for hundreds of years.
It acts by slowly dissolving stones over time until they are small enough to pass through the body unnoticed. This herb also has anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help ease the pain in the interim.
In France, Quebra Pedra is now being sold as a prescription product as clinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness. It can be taken in capsule form or tea-bags and tastes much like green tea.
Do not take Quebra Pedra with lithium medication as it may decrease how well the body gets rid of lithium. As Quebra Pedra may decrease blood sugar, it is also best avoided by those on diabetic medication.
