It was a disappointing end to a great run for Moate Community School last weekend as St Peter’s of Wexford ran out comfortable 2-13 to 0-07 winners in the Leinster College’s A final.
The defeat denied Moate CS its first Leinster A title, but all involved can feel a great sense of pride in their achievement in reaching the cup final.
Their opponents St Peter’s found themselves in a similar situation, with their victory ending a 25-year wait for a Leinster championship title, the school having lost three finals in consecutive years in the 1990s - 1994, 1995, and 1996.
While St Peter’s were dominant, the end score line flattered them somewhat, with two goals being added to their tally just minutes before the full-time whistle.
