Fine Gael Deputy for Longford-Westmeath, Peter Burke, has been appointed by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny as Chair of the Fine Gael Committee on Finance.
Due to his experience and interest in finance and economics, Deputy Burke will now chair Fine Gael meetings and brief the parliamentary party on all issues involving finance and public spending.
Speaking after the announcement was made on Wednesday, Burke said he was delighted to be given the role: “The Chair of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party Committee on Finance is tasked with informing all elected members of Fine Gael about updates to policy or upcoming changes in legislation. This can range from budgetary measures, schemes, revenue rules, or any new taxation proposals. I look forward to the role," he commented.
