Moate woman nominated for Irish Volunteer of the Year

Moate woman Louise McCormack has been nominated for the Irish Volunteer of the Year Award, one of the most prestigious volunteer awards in Ireland.

Louise is mother to eight children and for more than a decade has dedicated her life to being a volunteer. There are 10 categories and Louise is one of three nominated in her category for her work with Cura, where she is a post-abortion and crisis pregnancy councillor.

Louise recently completed a university degree from NUI Maynooth to help her with her volunteer work as a post-abortion/pregnancy crisis councillor. She has been volunteering with the organisation for more than a decade.

On top of her work with Cura, Louise volunteers with the church and a local parent support group, to name but a few. The number of initiatives Louise is involved in while simultaneously raising eight children has led to her being called “Wonder Woman”.

The awards ceremony takes place on December 7 in Dublin City Hall.
