Annual Samaritans Christmas concert returns to the Friary

The 25th annual Samaritans Christmas Festival Concert will be held in the Franciscan Friary Church, Athlone on Thursday, December 8 at 8pm.

The concert will feature the Army Band, tenor David Martin, soprano Niamh McCormack, and St Brigid's Community Choir, and the compere on the night will be RTÉ's Cathal Murray.

Niamh McCormack is a native of Shercock, Co Cavan. She has toured extensively throughout the US, Canada, the UAE, and Egypt, as well as Ireland, as the vocal soloist with Riverdance. She has performed on The Late Late Show and was invited to sing for former President Mary McAleese and current President Michael D. Higgins. Most recently, she was a soloist with the Castle Consort who performed in the Chapel Royal in Dublin Castle, a recording of which was aired on Lyric FM and features on the debut recording from newly formed choir Lassus.

Tickets, priced €12, will be available from the Friary, Cunninghams Chemist, Midland Sound Equipment, and The Castle Gift Shop.
