The introduction of a 30km/h speed limit in certain housing estates is part of a national initiative to reduce the speed of traffic in residential areas.

The speed limits in all housing estates are currently goverened by the speed limit on the road adjoining the estate, for example either 50 or 60 km/h.

In order to be included in the new bylaws, housing estates must be in charge of the council and therefore classified as public roads.
