Cllr O’Rourke welcomes funding to tackle Ardbrae Park flooding

Fianna Fáil councillor, Aengus O'Rourke, has welcomed news that funding will be made available for fixing troublesome waste water pipes in the Ardbrae Park area.

Residents in the area have experienced flooding problems following heavy rainfall for a number of years without any remedy. However, the council will now provide funding in the region of €30,000 to provide those residents will relief.

"I began work on this issue during the summer with the district engineer," Cllr O'Rourke said. "Following a number of assessments in the area including a camera survey, the root of the problem has been identified. This week I was delighted to receive the news that following my representations the council has agreed to spend a significant sum of money repairing the affected waste water pipes under the ground at the rear of the estate.

"This issue has plagued the estate for many years following shoddy work by contractors a long time ago. Thanks must be given to the residents in the estate for their co-operation in recent months and to Pat Nally, district engineer, for his commitment to the project. The works involved could cost in the region of €30,000 so this was a great project to get over the line, I am very pleased with the outcome."
