Soul Sessions II is a new project by Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm, celebrating local musicians’ original songs.
The album covers a variety of genres and features 15 acts: Kayleigh Wade, Martin Kelleher, Warren Francis, Bianca Fachel, Jay Boland, Liz Fletcher, Bluebird Youth, Colin Fahy, RETRO, Trish Nolan, Thom O’Neill, Gypsy Davy, Angela Bannon, Yasmin Chaudhry, and Rob Irwin.
Music videos of the live performances were filmed at Athlone Crystal & Gift Gallery where the album was recorded from June to July this year.
Soul Sessions II launch takes place on Friday, August 26, at The Malt House from 9pm. Music on the night will be provided by the musicians featured on the album. There is no cover charge but the 15-track album will be available to purchase for €10 on CD or €5 for an online download.
The CD launch is the prelude to a 15-part radio series set to broadcast weekly from Saturday, August 27, at 7pm on 88.4fm and at www.athlonecommunityradio.ie Each episode in the series is dedicated to a different act featured on the album, including interviews with the musicians on their musical backgrounds, inspirations, aspirations, and the story behind their chosen song.
