The Shannon Retail Park on the Dublin Road, Athlone and an adjoining 16-acre site have come to the market this week with a guide price of €2.2 million.
Shannon Retail Park is located opposite AIT’s east campus and the IDA’s Athlone Business and Technology Park, and is occupied by Heavin’s Hardware, Horkan’s Petworld, and Smyths Toys.
Four of the five units in the retail park (including the double unit occupied by Smyths and excluding the unit occupied by Jimmy’s Superstore ) are included in the sale. This adds up to 3,952 sq m of ground-floor retail space, with the rent roll expected to reach €210,482 by April 2017.
The sale is on behalf of receiver Declan McDonald of PwC.
The adjoining 16-acre site, which stretches from the Dublin Road between Heavin’s and Lidl, down past An Post’s mail centre, is zoned ‘Enterprise and Employment’. Planning permission was granted in 2009 for a large scheme including retail warehousing, offices, and storage, but has since expired
