BookWorms Festival is back!

Roscommon’s Literary Festival for children, the BookWorms Festival, makes a welcome return this summer. Last year’s inaugural festival proved so popular with youngsters that this year it’s back and it’s even bigger! The festival runs from Wednesday to Saturday, June 8-11, with events taking place all around Roscommon town including Roscommon Arts Centre, Roscommon Library, The Comfy Cafe, The Pepper Mill, Molloy’s Bakery, Gleeson’s Townhouse, and various schools in the county.

The festival launch takes place in Roscommon Library on Thursday, June 9 at 6pm with author Gerry Boland launching his first book of poems for children, The Secret Lives of Mothers, and all are welcome to come along, young and old, and get the festival started!

The BookWorms Festival is jampacked with an array of events, such as a Graphic Comic Workshop with author Alan Nolan; Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes with storyteller Wayne O’Connor; The Magic Bookshop, a treasure trove of books, returning to the arts centre; Snuggly Storytelling for little ones in the Pepper Mill; Bookswap Shops in Molloy’s Bakery and The Comfy Cafe; lullabies for babies with Codladh Sámh at the arts centre; stickers, balloons, free cookies and lots lots more.

The BookWorms events brochure is available now from Roscommon Arts Centre, Roscommon Library, Roscommon Arts Office, and a host of venues and locations around Roscommon town. You can also download it at www.roscommonartscentre.ie
