AIT business school recruiting for executive MBA programme

The Business School at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT ) is currently recruiting potential participants for the 2016 to 2018 intake of its executive MBA programme.

The executive MBA at AIT is a prestigious Master’s Degree designed for middle managers, senior executives, and consultants. While there is a strong emphasis on academic content, much of the assessment is based on a variety of organisational contexts. Participants are required to engage with real-life problems, opportunities, and dilemmas faced by organisations.

Dr Jason Palframan, MBA course director, said: “Students on the MBA typically have built up considerable expertise in a particular area within their organisation. The MBA broadens that palette of knowledge considerably and exposes learners to areas as diverse as strategic management, economics, financial statement analysis, operations and supply chain management, strategic marketing, knowledge and project management, strategic human resource management, corporate finance, and managing consulting.

“While there is a very strong theoretical underpinning to the MBA, students get to apply that learning in the context of case studies and real-life scenarios. This is the elixir that makes the MBA so desirable in terms of career progression and gives graduates a competitive advantage in the jobs market.”

In order to gain entry to the MBA, applicants should normally have at least five years work experience, with three years in a management-related role, in addition to their academic qualifications. All qualified applicants will be invited to attend for interview and selection will be based on qualifications, experience, and interview performance.

The programme is taught on Friday afternoons and evenings as well as on occasional Saturdays. The next programme is scheduled to commence on Friday, September 2. The fee is €7,850 per annum. The closing date for applications is Wednesday, June 1, with interviews taking place in late June 2016. An information evening about the MBA will be held in the Coffee Dock, AIT, from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, May 9.
