The Pillar House Folk Club welcomes Mick Hanly and Seán Keane

For almost two years the Pillar House Folk Club has been welcoming a virtual who’s who of top artists from the Irish folk music scene to its cosy venue in the centre of Ballinasloe.

This April and May, Pillar House welcomes back two favourites in musicians Mick Hanly and Seán Keane. Mick Hanly will return and play songs for his new album Homeland on April 15. This will be followed on Friday, May 20, by the return of Seán Keane, the first performer to take to the stage at the Folk Club two years ago.

Kathryn Gibbons of the Pillar House Folk Club said: “We’ve seen some super artists at the folk club, and over the last two years it’s gone from strength to strength, with people travelling from as far away as Italy, London, Derry, and Cork to see their favourite folk artists perform in The Pillar House.

“We are grateful to also have a strong local following for the folk club and some of our customers have missed only two or three of the gigs in the last two years. Feedback from performers has been really positive. They really enjoy playing a smaller venue and love the opportunity to engage with their audience during and after the gig. We are now becoming a well-known folk venue and the facility to book tickets online on our website has proved a major benefit.”

The folk club will welcome some more big names throughout the summer months, including Freddie White in June, Kieran Goss in July, and Mary Coughlan in August. Watch out for new developments in the near future including the launch of a new comedy club.

Tickets for all folk club concerts cost €20 and are available by calling (090 ) 9643939 or online at www.thepillarhouse.ie
