Pilates to the Core

Pilates is a series of exercises designed to develop the body uniformly, correct posture, test co-ordination, and increase balance and flexibility, while revitalising both body and mind.

Pilates is the most effective exercise to target the pelvic floor and deep abdominals, which give you those beautifully, toned abs. The good news is that it is easy: you can learn a technique that can be practised anywhere.

The ABCs of pilates:

A = alignment

B = breath

C = concentration

C = core strength

C = control

S = stability

The ABCs of Pilates demonstrate that this technique is the perfect complement to cardio exercises such as football, hurling, tennis, boxing, and other sports. The New Zealand All Blacks use pilates to build stamina, control, and strength.

Pilates is recommended by physiotherapists for postural problems and by OBGYNs for prenatal or postnatal ladies for easier childbirth and recovery.

Physiotherapists are seeing increasing numbers of desk workers with neck and back pain due to postural problems. Since pilates is practised with focus on correct alignment, you learn, adjust, and improve your posture.

The Pilates Studio is dedicated to helping you develop your body goals. Alison has 13 years experience and has developed classes to suit all levels in her studio in The Dancing Soul, Monksland, Athlone. With The Pilates Studio you will feel the difference.
