Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna

The 51st Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna will run in the Dean Crowe Theatre from Monday, April 18, until Thursday, April 21, this year.

Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna is organised by a voluntary committee of teachers, retired teachers, and an education inspector. The children are prepared in school by their teachers, music teachers, and special needs assistants. Parents play an active role in preparing and supporting their children for the performances.

The aim of the Féile Ceoil na Scoileanna is to promote Irish music, song, and dance while embracing the many other cultures and traditions that are now an integral part of Irish schools. The Féile Ceoil enables schools to share in and enjoy the performances of other groups , free from the stress of competition.

During the four days, school children from Athlone and across the Midlands will flock to the Dean Crowe Theatre. Some 41 items are expected on stage with a wide variety of entertainment including choirs, instrumental music, bands, drama, song, dance, verse speaking, and mime.

On Monday evening the Féile will be officially opened by local baritone Darren O’Hara. Performances commence on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings at 7pm. There will be two matinées held on Tuesday, April 19, and Wednesday, April 20, starting at 10.30am each morning.

Head to the Dean Crowe Theatre and enjoy the variety of musical entertainment on offer. Tá fáilte roimh cách!
