Help find Westmeath’s ‘Granny of the Year’

Business leaders from the Westmeath area are being invited to attend the International Local Government Convention to be held in Killarney in March.

The convention is being attended by former UK Cabinet Minister Michael Portillo, Minister for Trade John McGuinness, former Finance Minister Alan Dukes, former Fianna Fáil General Secretary Martin Mackin, and world-renowned economist, Dr Alan Ahearne. Delegates will be working across party lines with members of the business community and state agencies to discuss how they can best address the growing problems already being experienced in the Westmeath area caused by the global downturn.

Hosted by RTE’s Mark Little, the four day convention brings together local authority members and staff from the UK and Ireland to hear from experts and members of the business community how, at local level, they can tackle the challenges of driving growth and creating jobs at this time of economic difficulty. They will explore how local government can work hand in hand with business and state agencies to achieve recovery.

The event organisers have decided to organise this convention to encourage all elected representatives to start taking positive measures to begin tackling the economic crisis.

Local business people and elected representatives from the Westmeath area are being strongly urged to attend this important conference.

Those interested in attending are invited to visit the conference website www.goodconference.com, or contact their local council for details.
