Kilmartin N6 Service Station and The Grove Service Station fighting to end homelessness in Athlone

In the last six years Kilmartin N6 Service Station and The Grove Service Station have made a huge difference to people who are experiencing homelessness by helping to raise almost €40,000 for the Midlands Simon Community.

Midlands Simon Community helps people to move out of homelessness by providing emergency accommodation, supporting people to source accommodation, assisting people to move into their new home and providing a range of supports to people to help maintain their new home.

The organisation also helps people to overcome many other issues faced by those who are homeless, such as health and welfare needs, poverty, loneliness and isolation.

Mr Tony O`Riordan, CEO of Midlands Simon Community, said: “Life often presents people with challenges and difficulties that they did not expect, which can be extremely difficult to overcome. Midlands Simon Community is here to face these challenges with all those who need our help. By working together for as long as it takes we can overcome these challenges, and continue to provide all the supports necessary to enable people to move out of homelessness and into a permanent home of their own.

“However, we could not provide these essential supports without the type of assistance and partnership we have received from all in Kilmartins. For that reason we would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff in both Kilmartin N6 Service Station and The Grove Service Station for their tremendous efforts, and especially to Damian and Rachel Kilmartin for their simply fantastic support. We are extremely grateful. It is fantastic to see such willingness on the part of the business community to support those in the local community who need help.”

Speaking on the support, Damian Kilmartin said: “We are delighted to be in a position to help the Midlands Simon Community. We and our 50 staff members from both service stations are committed to doing so in the future.

“It was important to all of us to know that the funds raised were to support people in our own local communities. We would like to thank all of our customers in both of our service stations for supporting us in our efforts to help the Midlands Simon Community. Without our customers it would be impossible to provide such support.”
