Longford-Westmeath Fine Gael TD, Gabrielle McFadden, has welcomed the inclusion of €300,000 in the HSE’s Service Plan for 2016 to help complete the €3.6m upgrade of the Emergency Department at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
The upgrade of the A&E at Mullingar Hospital has been talked about since 2010 before the present Government came into office. Deputy McFadden said: “Having lobbied Health Minister Leo Varadkar very hard to help secure this investment to carry out these important works, I am delighted to see this significant project now in its final stages.
“Minister Varadkar has confirmed to me that the upgrade works will be completed in the first quarter of 2016, and we all look forward to a refurbished A&E which will mean a better layout for both patients and staff. As a local Government TD, I am very pleased to see this substantial investment in our local hospital infrastructure which will further enhance the delivery of services at Mullingar Hospital.”
