Athlone Musical Society and the Radisson Blu Athlone have a wonderful festive evening planned for the people of the Midlands on Thursday, December 17.
Following their highly successful summer concert, members and friends of Athlone Musical Society will take to the Radisson Blu stage for one night only to bring you Carols by Candlelight, Athlone’s very own Christmas variety and carol singing concert. With music, comedy, drama, song, dance, and community carol singing this night will have it all and is one event not to be missed.
The evening will feature many well-known faces of the music and theatre scene in Athlone, including Petrova Mulvey, Darren O’Hara, Anam, Athlone Little Theatre, The Army Band, Charles Doherty, and Mary Helen Hensley, plus a host of other performers, comedians and guests from right across the Midlands. Directed by Charles Doherty, this promises to be a dazzling night of entertainment for the whole family, not only showcasing the talent in our local area but also bringing Athlone together as a community to celebrate the festive season.
The concert will help Athlone Musical Society, Ireland’s oldest musical society, to fund its forthcoming production of the musical Rock of Ages and will also allow the society to raise funds in support of The Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association (IMNDA ). The IMNDA is the only organisation of its kind providing care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families, friends and carers.
This year they are marking 30 years of caring for people with MND and Athlone Musical Society is delighted to honour this fantastic association.
Tickets for the show cost €10 and are on sale now from the Radisson Blu Athlone, online at www.athlonemusicalsociety.com or from members of the Athlone Musical Society committee. Doors open at 6.30pm and people can enjoy a glass of mulled wine on arrival, listen to a pre-show traditional band, or browse the Christmas stalls.
Don't forget to buy a candle and raise your voices high for what promises to be an unforgettable and magical evening.
