A solo art exhibition by Dee McKiernan entitled “From Doorstep To Dreams” opens on Thursday, November 26, at 7.30pm at the Making Space Art Studios, 15 Custume Place, Athlone.
Ms McKiernan is a self-taught artist who lives and works in Athlone. Working in watercolours, acrylic paint, print, and mixed media, she finds delight in the beauty which surrounds her. The bogs, lakes, rivers, trees, woodlands, farms, built landscape, and people of Ireland provide her with inspiration for both representational and abstract works of art in which she attempts to capture the essence of the person or place.
Beginning with the views from Dee’s doorstep and journeying through the local boglands, passed abandoned homesteads and on to a variety of locations in counties Westmeath and Roscommon, this body of work concludes with a small number of scenes from the artist’s dreams and imagination.
The opening reception takes place on Thursday, November 26, at 7.30pm. The exhibition will run on Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28, from 10.30am to 5pm, and on Sunday, November 29, from 2pm to 5pm..
