Leading employers look to recruit AIT students at careers fair

More than 50 of Ireland’s leading employers will exhibit at the AIT careers fair this Thursday, November 12. The fair will be officially opened by TV and music star, Bressie.

Among the exhibitors are some of the largest employers in IT, engineering, medical devices, healthcare, hospitality, accounting and business; companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Intel, Eir, Ericsson, Boston Scientific, Roadtone, Ashford Castle, and RBK.

The careers fair provides students with a unique opportunity to meet with employers who plan to recruit graduates in 2016. It is also an opportunity to discuss postgraduate opportunities with a wide range of Irish and UK universities.

According to Denise Dolan, AIT careers officer: “The breadth and depth of exhibitors at the fair reflects the increasingly positive jobs market for AIT graduates. We will have some of Ireland’s largest employers, ranging from indigenous companies to multinationals, so this is a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with these organisations. The careers fair is also a perfect opportunity to learn about internships, graduate programmes, as well as employment opportunities.”

Included in the careers fair will be a fashion show, featuring tips to students on how best to present themselves in interviews. “It is very important that students have an understanding of their personal brand and how best to communicate their strengths,” said Ms Dolan. “This is an area where Bressie has fantastic experience, so his involvement in the fair reinforces that point.

“For others, the careers fair is a one-stop shop for gathering information about postgrad programmes, which is why several universities and institutes of technology are amongst the exhibitors. Similarly, some students choose the period immediately after college to undertake volunteer work with a charity or NGO, and again, we will have exhibitors present with lots to offer in this space.”

Among the exhibitors confirmed for the AIT careers fair are: ACCA, AIT, Allergan, Ambassador Recruitment, ATSR, Boston Scientific, Bradford University, Cameron Ireland, Camp Leaders, Chartered Institute of Building, Comfort Keepers, CPA Ireland, CPL, Department of Social Protection Employment Support Services, Dublin Business School, Edge Hill University, Eflexes Staffing and Recruitment, Eir, Ericsson, GMIT, GradIreland, Harper Adams University, Hedgeserv Ltd, Hodson Bay Group, Intel Ireland, Johnson & Johnson and Vision Care.
